Neighbors just can’t get along
Police intervened March 10 for a dispute between neighbors on Brewster Road after one party complained another party was blocking their driveway. Police say these two have been fighting over the same issue for a year. As the situation seemed hopeless, they were advised to consult their attorneys.
Little brown dog on the loose
A little brown and black dog was reported loose and running March 10 on Mamaroneck Road near Lenox Place. Police looked for it without result.
Uh, uh, is DOGE here?
A caller March 10 from the management office at the Village Hall reported DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) was in the building filming postal employees. No further information was available.
Complaints about a napping man
A man was reported on March 11 sleeping near the train station. Police went to speak to a man they are very familiar with. He said he didn’t need help and turned down assistance and said he was waiting for the next train.
What’s that stink?
Police went to a home on Chesterfield Road March 11 for a report of a foul odor inside the house. They told the homeowner it was from a dry shower trap in a first floor bathroom. Water was run to fill the trap. The resident was advised to make sure all plumbing appliances were used at least once every two weeks. Firefighters say a chemical odor within the sewer system is due to styrene used in a sewer replacement project in the village and that residents have been provided with informational handouts regarding chemical components and potential hazards.
Yelling man
Police went to the library on Olmsted Road for a report of a man in the computer room yelling. He was described wearing a camo jacket and jeans. The man quit yelling when police arrived and said he would be leaving.
Talking to himself
A man was reported March 11 talking to himself on East Parkway and Spencer Place. The man told police he was waiting for a bus and didn’t need their assistance.
Where’s my wine?
A caller on Taunton Road March 11 told police someone stole a package of wine delivered by FedEx to her address. She later called back and said there was a misunderstanding and the package hadn’t been delivered.
Teen stuck in a tree
A caller March 12 reported a teenage girl stuck in a tree 20 feet in the air on Church Lane. Fire personnel and an ambulance were dispatched as a precaution. Firefighters used a 24 foot extension ladder to help her out of the tree. She denied she was injured and police stayed around until her dad arrived.
Is every white van suspicious?
A Penn Boulevard caller March 13 reported a suspicious white van with blocked out windows and men inside. Police checked and saw the van but nobody was in it. It was legally parked and police say it belonged to a construction worker doing work in the area.
A very sad story
A Scarsdale woman, 65, was arrested March 13, charged with criminal contempt for violating an order of protection and disobeying a court mandate. She was also charged with harassment. The victim is a Scarsdale man, age 66. They appear to be married and both parties are listed as residing at the same address. Police went to the location for a welfare check on the defendant as requested by the homeowner/husband who thought she might have fallen inside the home. She wasn’t there when police arrived but showed up in a taxi shortly after. She denied needing medical attention although police said her appearance was mussed. She was arrested as she was in violation of a court order. Bail was set but she was released and given a summons to appear later that day in court.
Driving while intoxicated
A Yonkers man, 28 was arrested March 15 charged with speeding and driving while impaired by alcohol on Post Road and Kingston Road. Police saw him traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated. It was immediately apparent the driver was impaired. He was placed under arrest and brought to headquarters for processing and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court April 2.
Lousy driving
A White Plains woman, 45, was issued several tickets March 13 after police observed her improperly passing another driver on the right in the vicinity of Crane Road and Rochambeau Road. It also turned out her license was suspended.
Construction tools stolen
Grand larceny and criminal trespass were reported as well as criminal mischief March 14 on Cooper Road. The victim, a Yonkers man, reported 9 pieces of his equipment valued at $6,000 were stolen from a jobsite trailer on a construction site. The lock on the trailer was also destroyed. The incident is under investigation.
Fire
Landscaping equipment that caught on fire March 13 in the back of a truck was extinguished on Heathcote Road and Palmer Avenue by police and Scarsdale firefighters.
Grumpy about the music
An East Parkway caller March 14 complained about loud music coming from a restaurant operating downstairs. Police arrived and heard no loud music and said the business was closed for the night.
