Another great Halloween parade
Kids, costumes, and a grand Scarsdale tradition.
BY DEBORAH SKOLNIK
Halloween’s the one day of the year when you can wander through the Village squealing, “Aww, a rainbow unicorn!” without someone attempting to place you in a 24-hour involuntary hold. And indeed, there were plenty of fun little creatures and feisty superheroes on view at the annual children’s Halloween parade.
The fun kicked off in Chase Park around 3 p.m., when a crowd of littles in costumes, escorted by their proud parents, gathered. Children from the Hoff-Barthelson Music School then took the stage to perform a concert featuring four spooky (but boo-tiful) pieces of music.
Forty-five minutes later, it was time to begin the parade. An eclectic line formed, consisting of everything from ballerinas to tigers, and in one unique instance, a piñata (luckily, no one was hanging around with a stick). Led by characters and a bubble-show performer, the happy assemblage wound it way through the center of town. Since little legs can only march so far, the epic journey concluded fifteen minutes later, just in time for a magic show.
Did your kid, big or little, wear a Halloween costume? Send a snap to the Insider at scarsdaleinsider@gmail.com! If there are enough photos, we will run a photo gallery next week.
