EXCLUSIVE: A peek inside Bagel Emporium

The Insider got the hole truth about what the soon-to-be opened store looks like.

For months, we’ve been waiting this eatery to open—a magical space where we can moan about our expanding waistlines while noshing on fresh bagels topped with thick schmears of cream cheese. There have been a baker’s dozen of guesses as to when the big day will come. While walking around the Village today, the Insider finally got an answer…well, kind of.

A workman exited from the front door and smiled as he sat down on a bench to rest. “You can go inside,” he motioned, smiling. Talk about an offer you can’t refuse! A man behind a counter inside smiled as well. “Two weeks! Open in two weeks!” he said, and said it would be fine to take a couple of quick snapshots.

Deli-ghtful  The bright interior features a classic deli look and an extensive menu.

Clearly, Bagel Emporium is going to offer a laid-back and yet sleek environment in which to eye a can of diet soda before succumbing to a half-pound of Hamantaschen. Subway tiles line the walls, while a herringbone floor adds visual contrast. The posted menu includes everything from bagel sandwiches to heroes, paninis, and chopped herring salad.

There’s no food inside—yet—but it’s not hard to imagine it, or the line of customers that will stretch out the door at the grand opening. Stay tuned for further updates.

There’s always tomorrow  A sign above the doorway bids departing customers a cheerful farewell.
