HOLIDAYS ARE IN THE HOUSE Get ready for the holidays at the Scarsdale Woman's Club's “Holidays Through the House” annual boutique. The historic clubhouse will be lavishly decorated for the holiday season. Browse a large selection of housewares for entertaining, holiday decorations, gifts, jewelry and books. Shop for wreaths, poinsettias, small plants, and handmade ceramic ornaments, and top it all off with mulled wine and cookies. The Kids Craft Corner will be open from 11 to 4. STROLLER DERBY Grab your little one and go on the Hudson River Museum’s Stroller Tour before this cultural hub opens to the public. Start off with a conversation in the gallery, featuring touchable objects, and then enjoy an activity such as puppetry or music. You’ll also get an up-close look at a mixed-media artwork while exploring light and dark, shadows, and scale. DRIVING THROUGH A WINTER WONDERLAND Take the 1.2-mile drive through Westchester’s Winter Wonderland at Kensico Dam and you’ll bask in the glow of thousands of holiday lights. They’re arranged in ways that form jaw-dropping sights including an angel of peace, a light tunnel, elves and more—trust us, even the best-decorated house in your neighborhood doesn’t come close. GO NUTS What are the holidays without watching the Nutcracker? The Emelin Theatre’s Nutcracker Dream: Inspired by the work of Rudolf Nureyev and Marius Pepita is a 90-minute, family-friendly adaptation. STAY IN YOUR LANE American Christmas, the company that creates many of the iconic holiday decorations in NYC, has opened its Mt. Vernon showroom for the third year in a row. And wait till you see what they’ve done to the place: Its “holiday lane” is decorated with animatronics, themed areas, and more than 100,000 lights. A SOUND CHOICE Whether you’re 16 going on 17 or younger or older, you’ll enjoy the special sing-along showing of The Sound of Music at the Jacob Burns center. Based on the true-life story of the Von Trapp Family Singers, the movie tells the tale of how a naive nanny captures the heart of her charges—and their rich and handsome dad. MERRY CHRIS-TMAS Holiday songs and and the performers who belt them always sound better when they’re backed by a live orchestra. “Christmas With Chris Ruggiero,” at Yorktown Stage, has brass, strings, and the seasonal standards you love from Ruggiero’s critically acclaimed Christmas album.
