Is your kid a techie who’s interested in preventing computer hacks? Pace University has a free, 8-day summer camp, Camp CrypoBot, for students who would like to learn more about this field.
Funded through a grant by the National Security Agency, CryptoBot a dynamic, interactive, and mission-driven camp that introduces high school students to the cybersecurity basis. It SeaPerch, an underwater robot, plus drones and spheros as the platform for teaching cryptography though storytelling, hands-on labs, and problem-solving missions.
It’s a particularly good program for girls to try: The gender gap between males and females in cybersecurity is widening— CryptoBot uses a model that encourages young women to take risks while combating the fear of failure. Camp CryptoBot seeks to equip, educate, and empower young women such that they can sustain the rigors of being a woman in a male-dominated discipline and thrive.
