Although no clear timeline has been set, DeCicco’s supermarket in downtown Scarsdale Village will be closing, the Insider exclusively learned this morning.

“It’s just a matter of time”

A well-placed employee shared the sad news. “Management has told us it’s just a matter of time. We’re in the process [of shutting down],” he said. “They don’t tell us much.” When the Insider shared their sorrow, praising their meat department, the employee agreed. “It’s the meat, the fish, the deli…we have many, many loyal customers, They are definitely going to miss us. I mean, we have been in the Village for thirty-four years.”

Landlord issues are part of the problem, the employee added. “We couldn’t work it out, and the rents here are very, very high,” he said. The Insider reiterated that it will feel the loss of a convenient shopping spot. When asked what will take the market’s place, the employee said he did not know. “I know many people will be sad,” he said, “but no one is sorrier than we are.”
