When will it open? The Insider has the latest.

Few word pairs are as exciting as “bagel” and “emporium”—except maybe “coming” and “soon.” For months, these tantalizing phrases have been splashed across a downtown window, just around the corner from Sapori. But how soon is soon? When will The Bagel Emporium start to operate? At this point, residents wish they could say “Open sesame!” (or poppy seed, or onion). The Insider went searching for more information.

Several phone calls led to a source who wished to be known only as “a family member from ownership.” They said they aim to open the shop by October or November. “It takes time to open a store,” they added. Among other things, Bagel Emporium’s owners had to wait for approval for gas, which Con Ed is installing. A renovation of the space just began as well. Last Tuesday, a peek inside (the door was open) revealed ladders and workmen.
Once Bagel Emporium launches, residents will find it worth the wait. In addition to bagels, “We’ll have sandwiches, wraps, coffee, fruit, yogurt, and salad, and there will be indoor and outdoor seating,” the source divulges. For those who still mourn the loss of Lange’s Delicatessen, it will be a welcome option. “We had many people in Scarsdale visiting our other locations [Armonk, Chappaqua, Port Chester, Tarrytown, and Yorktown Heights]. There were a lot of requests to have a store in their town, too,” the source said. Rest assured there will be an announcement as the store nears the opening date. “We’re happy to share what we can,” the source said. It’s good to know the back story isn’t under lox and key.
