Walking Tour: Real Clothes, Real Lives at the New York Historical

Real Clothes, Real Lives: 200 Years of What Women Wore, the Smith College Clothing Collection, running September 27, 2024 to June 22, 2025 at the New York Historical (formerly the New-York Historical Society) examines the everyday clothing of ordinary women, from hard-worn house dresses to psychedlic micro minis and modern suits to fast-food workers’ uniforms. Also on display at New York’s first museum are 1890’s sportswear, an early Diane Von Furstenberg jersey wrap dress, vintage, handmade ensembles crafted from patterns, and so much more.
