A quiet exit for Via Forno

A sign in the window says a reinvented dining experience is on the way.

Arrivederci  Without fanfare, the 5-year-old restaurant on Garth Road shut down.

If you didn’t walk by the restaurant, or someone didn’t remark to you that something seemed to be up with Via Forno, you probably didn’t notice it’s no longer in business. The retracted awning and rolled-away tables suggested little more than a pause during the off-hours. But alas, it’s true: The Italian eatery, which opened not long before the pandemic, is no more. Upon closer examination, a small note is affixed to the menu in the window, with the following message:

Via Forno would like to thank you for your support over the last 5 years. We tried to serve food with integrity and support the locals with good wholesome meals at affordable prices. We will see you Dec 1st with a new menu and exciting cutting-edge restaurant that we hope you will enjoy.

Attempts to reach the owner of the restaurant group behind Via Forno have not yet been successful. More on the story as further information becomes available.
