Annual Sidewalk Sale This Weekend

By Deborah Skolnik

Here’s an exclusive look at what’s in store during the hotly anticipated sale, running Thursday through Sunday.

It’s always fun to shop the ‘Dale. You never know what you’ll find, whether it’s a chic shirt, a wedge of ooey-gooey imported cheese, or a naughty beach read. But at the Scarsdale Small Business Alliance Summer Sidewalk Sale this coming weekend, you’ll be sure to score some bargains. During the annual event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 25th through Saturday, July 27th, stores and other vendors in the Village Center will sell choice merchandise at significant discounts.

Veterans of the wildly popular annual shopathon know there’s more to the sale than just well-priced merch: you’ll also find a variety of delicious nibbles, and learn which of your neighbors enjoy a good sale as much as you do. On Saturday the 27th, families will enjoy kid-friendly activities including balloon twisting, face painting, and other amusements, along with live music and other entertainment.

Who’ll be there?

The following businesses and organizations will all be on hand:

·    Amanda Arbeter Art ·   Aspire Medical Aesthetics ·   Audio Help Hearing Centers ·   Bach To Rock ·   Bronx River Books ·   Casa Cherrywood Carvings ·    Contour ·   Cre8tor Incubator · Cutco ·   Decent Defense, LLC. ·   Evolve Med Spa ·   Eye Gallery Scarsdale ·   Great Stuff ·   Holsten Jewelers ·   I Am More Scarsdale ·   Jewels by Joanne ·   La Dentelliere ·   Learning Express Toys ·   Mixology ·   M&T Bank ·   My Educationist ·   Orangetheory Fitness Scarsdale ·   Pamela Robbins ·   Paola Ponders ·   Perlina Co. ·   Rothman’s ·   Scarsdale Community Baptist Church ·   Scarsdale Flower Shop ·   Scarsdale Village Dental Arts ·   ScentFluence ·   Second Edition, NY ·   The Dark Horse ·   Value Electronics

What kind of goodies will I find?

The Insider tracked down a few participating merchants for EXCLUSIVE intel on the goods they’ll be offering!

Holsten Jewelers—The sidewalk sale is also one of the busiest weekends of the year at Holsten, and for good reasons, so you’ll definitely want to stop by. Outside, you’ll find fashion jewelry and other less-costly goods such as picture frames, Judaica, and baby gifts. Indoors, there will be fab markdowns on items throughout the store, including vintage watches and diamond studs. 🔥Hot tips: The biggest savings will be on jewelry that Holsten has stopped carrying, or which came from companies that have gone out of business. Generally, these pieces have been in the store for a year or two. Their original prices reflected the cost of gold when they were produced, not the price of gold now, which is significantly higher. What these means is that these pieces would be a bargain today even without a discount—but the price cut makes them big-time bargain bling.

Shine on, you crazy faux diamond: just a few samples of the gorgeous costume pieces on sale at Jewels By Joanne.

I Am More— Is there a greater thrill—well, at a sidewalk sale–than spotting finds at 70% to 90% off retail prices? That’s exactly what this chic boutique will offer. Expect racks and displays graced with dresses, jeans, cashmere and cotton sweaters, t-shirts, blouses, skirts, beach bags, hats, and more, all for a tiny fraction of what you’d normally pay.

Jewels by Joanne—Bat mitzvahs, birthdays, holidays…now’s the time to buy gifts for all those upcoming occasions. That’s because JBJ will mark down a vast collection of the costume jewelry for which it is famous. Expect prices to be 20% to 70% below usual—and there will be a healthy number of the latter. 🔥Hot tip: Venture inside to find some fine jewelry on sale as well, including pieces made with semiprecious gems.

Contour Medical Aesthetics, the new med spa on East Parkway, has several offers for Sidewalk Sale shoppers. A second display card (not pictured) touts half-price Hydrafacials, a noninvasive treatment that extracts impurities and cleanses and hydrates skin for a glow-up.

La Dentelliere—The high-end lifestyle store will feature only first-rate items in perfect shape; they’re merely ones that La D will stop selling after the last of them is gone. Think elegant candles, diffusers, six-piece sets of glassware, and more. What kind of “and more”? Well, let’s see…placemats, discontinued paper napkins in gorgeous patterns, pillows, and even ultra-luxe Yves Delorme bedding. Since we’re halfway to the holidays, it can’t hurt to check out the marked-down Christmas-themed items, along with an eclectic selection of trinkets. 🔥Hot tip: The shop quietly started its sidewalk sale indoors on Monday. If you’re reading this before EOD Wednesday, you might want to head over now for the best selection.

Things are getting in-tents: A sneak peek at the clothes you’ll see at Mixology tomorrow—if some other shopper doesn’t beat you to them.

Mixology—All-new inventory, straight from the store’s warehouse and already marked down, is headed our way. One rack will offer accessories ranging from $10 to $75, while others will feature shirts, pants, dresses, and sweaters. We spied some tasty tops and jackets a few hours ago. Expect gloves, hats, and bags, too. 🔥Hot tip: Uber-popular St. Barth’s bags will be marked down, ready to be snatched up by those who keep their finger on the pulse of fashion.

But where can I possibly park?

Ah, the eternal question. Spots are always in demand around the village, but if your mind is set on leisurely browsing, try to snag the 8-hour, pay-as-you-go parking through Pango at the Christie Place Garage (64 East Parkway).
