An attempted hold-up, a man hiding in the bushes and inappropriately dressed men arouse suspicions

Traffic hazard

A caller March 17 on Roosevelt Place asked for police assistance as she was blocking traffic and creating a traffic hazard due to her car having a battery issue. Police say she got it started and drove off prior to their arrival.

Don’t park here

A caller March 17 on Griffen Avenue reported a suspicious black Acura parked near her driveway. By the time police drove by, the car was gone.

Overdressed man arouses suspicions

A man wearing a hat “covering his whole head” was reported riding a bicycle March 17 in the Five Corners area of Heathcote Road and Wilmot Road. The caller said he was also wearing winter clothes. His choice of garments given the spring-like weather aroused her suspicions. Police looked for the overdressed man but didn’t find him.

Young smoker reported

A caller March 17 complained about a young man smoking marijuana on someone’s property at the intersection of Carthage Road and Lebanon Road. The caller described him as “in his 20’s.” Police looked for the young man without result.

Dead, not sick

A sick raccoon reported on Richbell Road March 17 turned out to be dead. A note was left for the highway department.

Probably napping

A male youth lying in a fetal position beside a utility box at Crane Road and the Bronx River Parkway was reported March 17; the caller described him as black haired and wearing a brown jacket and wearing a blue backpack. Police went to the area but didn’t see any kid or kids or anyone in a fetal position.

Did the dog bite the child or just his  jacket?

A caller March 18 said her son was attacked by a neighbor’s dog on Wildwood Road who ripped his jacket. Her son is 11. A county board of health form was completed.

Taking in the fine weather

A motorist traveling March 18 on Weaver Street and Hutchinson Avenue called in a teenager sitting on a railing on the overpass; an officer approached the teen who said he was just enjoying the fine weather but understood that his sitting on the railing could appear concerning and he would find another place to sit.

I must speak with my husband first

A stolen package was reported by a Drake Road resident March 18. The caller said it was stolen from their porch. After some hesitation she said she wanted the incident documented although at first she said she would have to speak to her husband about it first. The contents of the stolen package are unknown.

Marital difficulties lead to arrest

A Scarsdale resident, female, 65, described as 5 '0 and about 105 lbs, was arrested March 19, was arrested at her home, charged with disobeying a court order. Police say domestic violence played a part. The victim is her spouse. At 9:42 a.m. police went to the residence on a violation of a court order. She was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing. A cash bail was set which she was unable to pay. She was released to the Westchester County Jail. No new court date was set.

Unknown man on the porch

A Walworth Avenue resident March 21 reported an unknown man who appeared on her porch. She spoke to him through a screen door and asked him what he needed. He replied, “Nothing,” and left. Police found him shortly after walking on Walworth Avenue. He told them he was lost and looking for the train station and declined medical attention. Three minutes later a Heathcote Road resident reported him walking on her property which made her uneasy. Police spoke with him again and he moved on.

Hello, I’m with the Indian Embassy and there is a problem

A Mamaroneck Road caller March 21 reported two weeks earlier he received a phone call from someone purporting to be with the Indian Embassy who claimed hisidentity was stolen and fraudulently used overseas. He then participated in a video interview where he displayed his passport, but soon realized he was at the start of a scam. He said the scammer attempted to connect with him again but he’s not responded to calls or texts. A report was made for documentation.

Was it an attempted hold up?

A Hartsdale man, 51, was arrested March 21 on Chase Road and Boniface Circle, charged with criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use. He was also charged with menacing. At the time of his arrest, police described the would-be assailant as well-dressed, wearing a sports jacket, dress shoes and dress slacks. His demeanor was orderly. His victim is a Hawthorne man, much younger. Police say they are strangers. The victim called the police and said he’d just been threatened at knifepoint but the man retreated to his car.  Officers saw him near his described vehicle and removed the knife. Further information regarding the defendant's criminal activity or history was redacted from the report. Following his arrest, he was released on his own recognizance.

Father reported arguing with his young child

Police went to Garth Road March 22 for an altercation between a father and his young child in front of a restaurant. Eastchester police arrived on scene first and the Scarsdale police left them to it.

Aggressive driver

An Uber Eats driver March 22 reported someone was driving aggressively behind him and approached his car window. He was calling from Walworth Avenue but said he had to leave before police could get there.

Nothing but the wind

Man hiding in the bushes
