Don’t come back
A Brookline Road resident Feb. 3 left a message with the police saying they'd had an interaction with a solicitor that made them uneasy, but when an officer tried to call them back, there was no response.
Raccoon rifling through trash cans alarms neighbor
A Popham Road resident Feb. 3 said there was a raccoon hanging out by some trash cans in the middle of the day which they found suspicious. Police looked for the animal but didn’t find it.
Come and get your stuff
A Larch Lane man reported Feb. 3 issues with an old girlfriend regarding some personal property he’s been trying to return to her. He said there’s been endless emails about it. Police advised him to let them know if there’s a problem when she shows up to get her stuff.
Crotchety neighbor upset by bouncing balls
A Crane Road caller Feb. 3 complained about a young boy neighbor bouncing a lacrosse ball outside which she said disturbs her. The boy’s mother said her son was coming inside.
Talkin’ trash A resident was frightened by the noise of a raccoon rooting through the garbage.
Dog poop galore
Dog poop was the subject when a Crane Road caller contacted the police Feb. 5 to complain there was too much of it on Village property in the vicinity of Post Road. The highway department was notified and no further action was taken.
Large amount of cash stolen from woman’s apartment
Burglary was reported Feb. 6 by a Rochambeau Road resident. The theft is believed to have occurred between Feb. 1 and Feb. 6. The victim, 50, reported a large amount of cash was stolen from her apartment. Police are investigating.
My crazy ex-girlfriend A man complained that his old GF keeps emailing him.
Bad drivers
A Mount Vernon woman, 70, was issued tickets Feb. 4 for speeding in a school zone and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle after police first saw her and then caught her on radar traveling at a high rate of speed in the vicinity of Catherine and Mamaroneck Roads. The officer verified through the DMV her license was suspended. She claimed she was unaware. She parked the car at her employer’s residence and said her husband would come and get her.
Another Mount Vernon woman, 37, was issued tickets Feb. 4 for unlicensed operation, driving with a suspended license and speeding in a marked zone. Police saw her operating her white Jeep SUV in the vicinity of Post and Huntington; she was going 55 mph in a marked 30 mph zone. She received four tickets in total.
Burnt aerosol cans?
Police went to the school on Heathcote Road Feb. 7 after a caller reported burnt items strewn on the grounds. Police said they were burnt aerosol cans. The custodian confirmed there was no damage to school property.
Homes.com employee upsets resident
A caller on Circle Road Feb. 7 reported a man wearing a black quilted jacket was flying a drone over her house. She said he was in a car that had a Homes.com sign on it. Police spoke to the man who said he works for that company and he was making a video regarding home sales in the area. Police said nothing further was discussed.
Gotta bounce A sporty kid made their neighbor la-cross.
Activated fire alarm results in kids evacuated from preschool
Children and staff were evacuated from The Little School on Mamaroneck Road Feb. 7 when a fire alarm was activated in the gym area of the preschool. A staffer thought it might have been set off by a ball the children were playing with. Firefighters responding said there was no cause for alarm and the system was reset and preschool was resumed.
Call the plumber!
A Gorham Court resident Feb. 7 reported a water condition in the basement. Firefighters opened up the sewer manholes and found the sewer line was clogged. Police were on scene. The water department arrived. The homeowner was advised not to use any water or take a shower or flush toilets until the clog was resolved.
Loud snow removal equipment irks neighbors
A Black Birch Lane resident Feb. 9 complained his neighbor is using heavy duty snow removing equipment at 4 a.m. which he said disturbed his sleep. Police said they didn’t see anyone using snow moving equipment.
A Chesterfield Road caller Feb. 9 also complained about loud snow moving equipment a little later in the morning. An officer went to that location and told the homeowner of the complaint and issued a verbal warning about various noise ordinances in place.
Flaky behavior There was snow shortage of complaints about the noise people made clearing their driveways.
Dump your trash someplace else
A caller on Roosevelt Place Feb. 9 told police they argued with a man they said was dumping garbage on school property. Police arrived and spoke to the building custodian who said the operator of a specific car was dumping trash there. Police located the offender who said he would stop.
No snow problem evident
A Meadow Road caller Feb. 9 told police they were unhappy with how their neighbor was handling their snow. Patrol arrived and took a look but didn’t see any problems.
