Got a kid who loves to experiment or research? There’s a new opportunity for the science faction to shine, courtesy of the Edgemont School District’s new Westchester Regional Middle School Science and Engineering Fair (WRMSSEF). Scarsdale kids as well as all 6th through 8th graders from Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam Counties are welcome to enter and showcase their projects.

The first-ever fair will take place at Edgemont High School on April 26, 2025. Expert judges will be on hand as students compete for awards. The top 10% of student participants will advance to the Thermo Fisher Junior Innovators Challenge, one of the most prestigious science competitions.

Edgemont Superintendent Dr. Kenneth R. Hamilton is proud of Edgemont’s new initiative. “Students are encouraged to maximize this opportunity to display their talent and hard work, and embrace the fair as a stepping stone for participation in high school science fairs and potential careers in science,” he said.
