Brunch is now being served  Micheline's offerings feature old favorites along with out-of-the-box options.

It’s been roughly 12 months since Micheline, on Scarsdale Avenue, opened its classy doors and ushered in the era of snail in the ‘Dale. The French bistro’s many fans are now making another happy discovery: Micheline started serving brunch as of last Sunday. It’s a dream come true, not only for diners but for owner Johnathan Aubrey. “This is something I’ve been wanting to do since the restaurant’s infancy,” he said, adding he waited a year because “I wanted to make sure all my fundamentals were in correct—that all my systems were in place, that I had the right team, that I could execute it properly.”

Among other things, it meant devising a menu that is sumptuous even by Scarsdale standards. “It was decided between my chef and me. We wanted to have classic brunch items, such as eggs Benedict, both with bacon and with Norwegian smoked salmon, or spinach—the Florentine option—so we could accommodate everybody’s desire,” Aubrey said. “And a French omelet had to be on the menu. It’s not just like any omelet—it has a delicious, runny center. It’s soft and delicate.” There’s also fluffy challah French toast, a custardy quiche with cheddar, leeks, and shitake mushrooms, and much more. The custom touches are everywhere, Aubrey adds: Micheline grinds its own beef for its hamburgers, for instance, and makes it own beet-cured salmon.

And if you’re the type of enjoys a drink with brunch, there are all the standards, from Bloody Marys to Mimosas. Yet again, Micheline also creates their own cocktails: “One we’re doing which is very seasonal has a cherry liqueur and some fresh lemon juice and sparkling wine,” Aubrey said. “There’s one that has St. Germain and creme de violette, which is a beautiful sprits we call The Bleu,” Sounds like the antidote for anyone’s “bleus.”

Brunch served Fri.-Sun., 11:00 a.m.-2 p.m.
