Gave away personal information

A Black Birch Lane resident Aug. 12 reported two men came to her door, claiming to be investigating fraud. Police interviewed her about the questions they asked and then advised her to contact their bank about protecting her account. They also reminded her to monitor activity on her credit card.

You can’t fish here

A couple of young teens were reported fishing in a pond Aug. 12 at Brewster Road and Olmsted Road; police advised them it isn’t a public fishing spot. Different kids were reported fishing again at the same location Aug. 14. They were also told not to fish here.

Teens acting normally

Ten teens were reported Aug. 12 fighting at the intersection of Post Road and Sprague Road. Police on arrival saw teens in the area acting normally.

More stolen construction tools

Burglary, criminal mischief, and grand larceny were reported Aug. 13 at a Mamaroneck Road home. The victim resides at an alternative address in Scarsdale. Construction tools and a storage trailer were reported stolen or destroyed. The reporting party said someone unlawfully entered the residence when it was vacant and stole their tools.

Knock, knock, the utility is here

A Claremont Road caller Aug. 13 said a white-bearded man rang her doorbell demanding entrance. He told her he was with the utility and was checking for a leak. Police arrived and verified he was who he said he was. They accompanied him to the caller’s basement to look for the leak.

Can’t turn your head away for a minute

A lawnmower was reported stolen outside a Lawrence Road address Aug. 14. The homeowner, who was just using it, valued it at $700. He said he left it unattended for a few minutes on the edge of his property near the curb line and when he came back to get it, he saw someone had grabbed it.

Long-haired man gets looks

A tallish, long-haired man dressed in a gray shirt and jeans was reported Aug. 14 hanging around Scarsdale Avenue. The caller thought he was suspicious. Police looked for the described man without result.

There’s a cat on my patio

A caller on Meadow Road Aug. 14 reported there was a cat on her front patio that appeared to be injured. The cat, who didn’t look sick at all to the police, ran off as soon as humans approached it.

Releasing himself

A man was reported “releasing himself” behind dumpsters in the morning on Aug 15 near a playground on Crane Road. The incident wasn’t reported until several hours later. The caller said the man was dressed in a dark-colored shirt and light-colored trousers and driving a white station wagon. The caller said the man was seen by a passerby urinating behind a tree. The passerby expressed their displeasure and the man left. The caller said other parents might have more information. Police advised additional drive-bys would be added to the area.

Stuck

A caller Aug. 15 said their car was stuck in the Christie Place underground garage. It was unclear if the car was disabled or there had been a collision, or the caller just couldn’t find their car. On arrival, police saw the car was moved to its assigned space.

Soliciting without a permit

A caller on Coralyn Road Aug. 15 said people were soliciting in the area without a permit. Police canvassed the area but saw no solicitors.

He’s not bothering you

A caller on Rock Creek Lane Aug. 15 said a man wearing a toolbelt knocked on her door, looked around, took notes on his phone and then left. The caller didn’t answer the door when he knocked. A man of that description was located not far away at a construction site. English wasn’t spoken but the man made it clear he hadn’t been on anyone else’s property.

An odd popping sound

A caller Aug. 16 on Green Acres Road reported an odd, recurring popping sound that seemed suspicious. Police arrived and listened for several minutes but heard nothing out of the ordinary.

But what was the summons for?

A caller Aug. 17 reported she saw on her security camera a man at her door and then by her garage. She wasn’t home at the time but when she returned, her garage door was open. Police told her to wait in her car until they arrived. They checked her home and saw nothing out of order. The man on the video was located nearby and issued a summons for something.

She can’t take it

An Edgewood Road caller Aug. 17 called police to say her husband was yelling and she “couldn’t take it anymore.” Police went to the home. A couple well known to them were having their usual spat. Neither party was injured or threatened. The couple said the police could leave and their presence was no longer required.

Loud parties

A loud party was reported on Drake Road Aug. 17. Police went to the location and the host said all the guests would come inside. No further action was taken. A loud party was also reported that night on Morris Lane. A warning was issued to the resident.
