Scarsdale Adult School Spotlight

Did you know that Scarsdale Adult School is offering more than 250 fascinating courses this fall and winter? Here’s just one.

Finding Your Voice through Memoir Writing

Ever worry that the back stories to all your photos and memorabilia will be forgotten someday? Here’s a special way to pass down those memories and create a lasting gift to your family. By reminiscing with others in class, answering provocative and probing questions, participating in recorded group sessions, and completing weekly assignments, you’ll begin to organize and present your life stories in writing. At the end of the course, you’ll have the start of a rich and full memoir. Students from prior classes are welcome, as we will be exploring new questions.

About the instructor: NANCY KESSLER started collecting stories at a very young age through frequent visits with her elderly neighbor. As her interest in oral history and folklore blossomed, she pursued a career in historical museums, becoming a curator at the Museum of the City of New York following her graduation from Skidmore College and the Cooperstown Graduate Program. Kessler was also the Therapeutic Recreation Director for Atria Rye Brook (an independent living facility) and Greenwich Adult Day Care (which provides day care for adults with Alzheimer’s).
