FRI. AUG. 30

THE ART OF SUMMER Today’s the last chance to see The Vanda Gallery's exhibition Aqua: Spirit of Summer. Featured artists include Charles Fazzino, Wendy Guagenti, and Mittul Mishra. 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; 379 Huguenot St., New Rochelle; admission is free.

THE RIDES OF YOUR LIFE The Kiwanis Club of Hartsdale is holding its Annual Carnival Fundraiser. Expect rides, food, and arcade games. Money raised through the event helps the Club provide backpacks and supplies to elementary school students, food to local food banks, and more. 5 p.m.-closing Thurs. and Fri.; 2 p.m.-closing Sat., Sun., and Mon.; Richard Presser Park/Webb Field, Central Ave., Hartsdale.

A DAM GOOD TIME Kensico Dam Plaza presents the final night of its Robison Summer Concert Series, “Jam at the Dam.” This evening, The Dave Matthews Tribute Band will be rockin’ out. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and coolers if you want. 6 p.m. gates open, concert begins at 7 p.m.; 1 Bronx River Pkwy., Valhalla; free parking and admission.

WHAT’S THE STORY? Take your little literary lovers to Barnes & Noble in Hartsdale for Kids Storytime. Occasionally, special guest authors do the reading, so keep an eye on Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter for special announcements. 11 a.m.; Dalewood II Shopping Center, 381 N. HIKE WITHOUT HANG-UPS Are you always scared that not-so-great things will happen to you in the great outdoors? Visit the nature center at Cranberry Lake Preserve in North White Plains for “Fear to Fact: Poison Ivy, Tick, Bears, Oh My!” During this presentation, you’ll learn about common forest-related fears and how to protect yourself from them. Afterwards, there will be a short (and hopefully stress-free) hike. 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; 1609 Old Orchard St., North White Plains; admission is free.

Out of this world  Will we ever set up a research station on the moon? Visit the Hudson River Museum's planetarium for some insights.

FLY ME TO THE MOON Can you believe it’s been 55 years since humans first walked on the moon? In Moonbase: The Next Step, at the Hudson River Museum planetarium, you’ll learn about efforts to create a permanent outpost on the moon for scientific research. Recommended for ages 9 and up; Q&A following the performance. FARM FRESH Sunday means it’s time for the Scarsdale 2024 Down to Earth Farmers Market. This week’s vendors include Babka Paradise (their chocolate babka would make your Bubbe swoon), The Copper Faucet Soap Company, and American Pride Seafood. 9 a.m.-2 p.m.; Spencer Place on Chase Rd., Scarsdale; admission is free.

IRISH EXTRAVAGANZA Get jiggy with it at the 2nd Annual Irish Folk Music Festival at Stepinac High School in White Plains. There will be a lineup of bands, performances by students from the Loughran-Dowling School of Music, and even the Pipes & Drums Of The Police Emerald Society Of Westchester, made up of dedicated law enforcement officers. 1 p.m.-8 p.m.; 950 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains; $20.00-$115.00, not including fees; buy tickets here.

DIRECTOR’S CUT With the movie Beetlejuice Beetlejuice set to open this coming Friday, the Jacob Burns Film Center is screening some other Tim Burton Classics.
